Role Purpose

Chubb is a large and successful international insurance business with operations in 50 countries and serves clients in over 170 countries.
Chubb writes specialty London Market insurance through Chubb Global Markets (CGM) which includes Lloyd’s Syndicate 2488. CGM business is international in scope and tends to cover large risks or risks that are exposed to perils, such as Wind Storm and Earthquake, which are beyond the appetite of regional markets.
The role provides an excellent opportunity for a personable, driven graduate who is keen to gain exposure to the pricing and underwriting management function of a London Market insurance operation.
You will be based in Chubb’s Leadenhall Street offices in London and will be part of the Actuarial Function for Chubb Global Markets (CGM). You will provide technical support to the Financial Lines Underwriters of CGM, with responsibilities such as:

  • Case pricing for risks with significant amounts of historic claims activity;
  • Exposure rating and benchmarking the business opportunities where sufficient data is not available.
  • Portfolio Management and Risk Selection through the application of technical models;
  • Rate Change Monitoring for renewed business.
  • Planning and Forecasting for the CGM Financial Lines business
  • Assist the Capital Modelling team with the parameterization of the Underwriting Risk
  • Working with the business/underwriters to help them review the portfolio performance as part of the annual portfolio review process, as well as other ad hoc requests, and help the business formulate the strategy to improve the underwriting performance.
  • Building and maintaining the rating engines / raters with the help and feedback from the UWs.


Underwriting for Financial Lines business is highly technical, relying on detailed claim and exposure data. Underwriters require support in maintaining and analysing this data in order to maximise portfolio profitability.

The role reports to the Senior Financial Lines Pricing Actuary for the region who will provide guidance on the technical matters, the operation of the models and the interpretation of model outputs. The role, however, will be fully embedded in the underwriting team, with the purpose of providing direct support to the underwriters. The underwriters will provide direction on day to day priorities.
